Moving emails in evolution / Email status

Asked by schollsky

Hi there,

please enlighten me regarding this behaviour of evolution:

When moving several emails from one folder to another, all unread messages will be marked as read. I wish the status could be preserverd (read or unread) after moving.

Is it a feature or possibly some side effect?

Kind regards,

Stefan

Just dragging an email from the Inbox to some other folder does not change its "read status". I have closed the preview window, maybe that affects you. The thing that has changed (from 10.04 or later to 12.04) is the folder tree -- the unread number no longer appears next to the folder, it appears at the top of the column when a folder is selected. The unread messages are still bolded, as they have always been.

This is not my experience here. I select several emails in one folder using the search function and marking all as selected, then moving. As a result all moved messages are marked read. Perhaps I should submit a bug report?

Is your view/preview turned off? If it is on, the simple act of selecting will mark a message as read.
What version of Ubuntu are you running?

Preview mode is turned on. So I will turn it off now. Thanks!
