evolution not responding

when responding to craigslist rental ads email wont send. when I shut down message says evolution not responding. If I try directly from evolution error says mail from command failed: authentication required. I'm apt hunting gotta have this working. thanx erica

Have you checked your config is ok. This page has the settings you need:

You need some SSL security in certain places, check your config is correct.

gettin mail not sending. says must issue STARTTLS
