how to run Evolution, cannot get it working

Asked by Barry Gubb

I am an old newbie, have downloaded Ubuntu via Wubi, that went well, but I cannot get Evolution to work, it doesn't want to know Gmail or my ISP which is orcon.net.nz. Any help would be most appreciated,BG

Very grateful for the quick answer to my problem, the only trouble is that I have another one. Evolution has downloaded over 300 old emails dating back to 2005, as fast as I delete them they just keep coming back, can someone please help me to solve this annoying problem. Once that is fixed I am looking forward to learning to use ubuntu, like it so far, thanks in advance,Barry Gubb

ok, when evolution downloads your e-mails it leaves a copy of that in gmail. therefor when you attemp to download again it downloads the same e-mails. there is a setting in evolution to delete e-mails from server when it downloads to your computer. Find that setting it the menu and uncheck it. (i cant remember where it is but it is somewhere in account settings menu). there is a picture about it in here:

for more info you can look at this tutorial:

i hope this helps
