Size of evolution windows too large to configure

Asked by achevrier on 2006-09-13

Hi Ubuntu users,

I'm beginning with the beautifull last ubuntu Dapper 6 version (french).
I have to configure my Evolution connections and email details.
However, I have difficulties because the assistant tools windows are too large.
I can't reach the buttons like "next step" located on the bottom of the window.
It is impossible to reduce the size of the window.
Therefore, I can't configure my accounts and I can't use Evolution.
Precision : My computer is a small and old IBM thinkpad. Thanks a lot for your help.

You may want to adjust your screen resolution. You can find some tips here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FixVideoResolutionHowto
Otherwise, try pressing ALT+Space. When window menu appears, choose Resize. You should be able to reduce its dimensions in order to fit your screen resolution.

This tip might also help.

You can move almost any window without having to click on its title bar in Linux. This can be helpful in your situtation where the dialog box's title bar is already at the top of the screen, but the information that you need access to (or buttons that need to be clicked) are still out of sight.

Simply hold down the ALT key on your keyboard and then Left Mouse click and hold anywhere in the window that needs to be moved.

You should be able to drag the window or dialog box anywhere you want. You can also "let go" (stop holding the mouse button down) and redo this step in order to move down (or up or left or right) on any particularly large window.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck.

"Maruru Roa !"
That means "Merci beaucoup !" in Polynesian tongue.
Or ... "thank's a lot !"
It works.
I'm using evolution.
Well done !
