Running evolution from terminal:
It came up with the set up screen allowing me to request 'install from backup'
the terminal displayed a number of errors but seems to have recovered all the messages.

When I closed it down and opened it again using the icon link on the left it displayed the same box as before - the setup page.
I went back into it using the terminal command and was asked to enter the email settings which I did but in the process, lost the other email settings (of other email addresses set up). It also removed the local versions on the email folders.

I then realised that when I was looking for the program under internet Apps, it only showed (and still shows) only the 'emails settings' icon (but the same as the evolution icon that I recognise)
When I listed ALL apps, I found it listed both 'email settings' as well as 'evolution'.
I added the evolution icon to the list on the left , no icon appeared there but a blank space was left which acted as the icon allowing me to reload the program. ( I suspect that next time I power up it will be there)

I think it is working ok now, thanks for your help
