Evolution does not support Groupwise in 11.10 anymore

Asked by Hein Kerstgens

After installing Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) on my laptop an getting Evolution out of the packages I found out that there is no plugin for Groupwise anymore. That brings me into the situation either to turn back to 11.04 (Natty) or leave Ubuntu Linux after many years and find another system which still supports Groupwise.
Is there a plan to integrate the Groupwise plugin from the Gnome project? I'am not in the position to bring up a Evolution compiled out of the Gnome sources into 11.10 by myself.

Natty, Maverick and even Lucid are still fully supported. Why would you even THINK to change distro simply because the latest release doesn't have groupwise. It makes no sense at all. You are also forgetting that Oneiric is still extremely young so many of the bugs from the beta stages will still be present in the release candidate.

If the functionality is critical then yes, install Natty and you will be fine.

This should be a bug because the package "evolution-groupwise" is missing.

Possible temporary workaround: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1859907
