Configuring Evolution email in 11.04

Asked by Jerry L. Dunn

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop. I'm trying to configure Evolution email with my gmail account information. I've googled this to find the pop and smtp servers, etc. However, after configuration, I am not able to send or receive email. The send/receive button is disabled. Is there a known issue with Evolution in 11.04? Also, I am not able to configure Evolution with my Windows Live email account neither. So it is not just gmail. Please advise. Thanks so much!

Hello,

You would be better off by installing Mozilla Thunderbird Mail Service.

However, try reinstalling Evolution. You set the emails in Preferences.

Regards,

Allan :)

this worked for me

for reeving in gmail

 server type IMAP
server imap.gmail.com
ssl encryption

for sending in gmail

server type SMTP
server smtp.gmail.com
ssl encryption

for sending

for receiving in windows live

server type POP
server pop3.live.com
ssl encryption

for sending in windows live

sever type SMTP
sever smtp.live.com:587
ssl encryption

to send mail from window live you need to edit, preference and edit windows live account. under security you need to add PGP/GPG KEY ID

to get this key go to password and encryption key under window live account search for the key on line the copy and paste it in security column under preference

i hope you get it right

Henry
