Evolution not working

Asked by abba778

Hi,

I've been using the evolution email client for some time now, and up to about midweek last week, it stopped sending emails from my laptop.

I don't get any error messages and it shows that I sent the emails. However, no one is receiving my emails. There's not a delay or anything like that, it seems that they're simply not leaving my laptop. I even sent a test email to myself on the same laptop...it shows it sent, but never received it. I thought it was a server issue, but using the same credentials on other computers (one running evolution on ubuntu and the other using outlook) there was no problem in sending the emails.

It's not sending via thunderbird from this laptop either, even though they both say that the messages sent without a problem.

Is evolution in offline mode? Can you ping the mail server? Who is your mail provider?

However, thunderbird apparently did send it, but heavily delayed.

Evolution is online, mail provider is via homestead. I don't know how to ping.

Same as in any OS:

ping host

So you will need to get your mail providers mail servers (I suggest you use both the POP and SMTP servers) and ping to test you can reach the server(s).

With thunderbird being delayed, possibly the provider is doing some maintenance or having issues. The fact it suddenly started misbehaving points to that rather than bad settings.

Ok, I pinged the host POP3 account and the SMTP, and this is what I received:

alex@alex-laptop:~$ ping smtp.homesteadmail.com

That's cool. You can hit the server. Have you contacted homestead to see if they are having issues?

Ok, they're not having any issues. They did have an update about 2 weeks ago and upgraded their spam filter. She said the only thing she could think of was to reset my account settings with evolution. I guess that's worth a try, but I might need some help on how to do that, unless you have a different idea.

Can you help with this problem?
