Evolution does not shut down

After opening Evolution the inbox will not make contact with AOL IMAP mail.
The last contact came on Mon 6-13, also the date format has changed from 'm,d,y,time' to 'd,time' I have not changed the preferences.

Does not make contact with dbCloud as it used to.

In order to shut down Evolution I have to open the terminal and use kill.

This is a fresh install as I messed up installing Debian. As I did not know enough about what I was doing,
I did a complete fresh install of Ubuntu Natty 64. Previously Evolution was working fine.

I ran du with these results
  '$ du -hs ~/.evolution
  du: cannot access `/home/cliffm/.evolution': No such file or directory
