The Evolution addressbook has quit unexpectedly

Asked by MsiaGuy

In Evolution, under Contact, I have different contact for different categories. Whan I choose a category in "show:" popup menu, the error message popup:

The Evolution addressbook has quit unexpectedly

Your contacts for file:///home/user/.evolution/addressbook/local/system will not be available until Evolution is restarted.

After this error, all my contacts disappeared. I need to restart Evolution then only back to normal.

This error appear persistently everytime I do the same thing. No matter how many time I reformat Ubuntu, still the problem occur.

Anybody facing this problem also?

I just installed Gutsy and seem to have the same problem. I never tried to use categories before but it would help me in sending e-mail to a category of my selection.

I too am getting the aforementioned error -- can you advise if there is a fix in the near future? I am not familiar with adding the items suggested, so ....

I had the same problem with Evolution. It would quit out of calendar, tasks, memos, etc... unexpectedly, when I was doing practically anything. My solution was to remove the Orca screen reader and magnifier (which is under universal access) through add remove programs. There is something about it that doesn't play well with Evolution. Now Evolution works like a charm!
