when I try to send an e-mail using ubuntu-1 evolution i get" error loading addressbook"

address book will not load on a consistent basis. If I reboot often address book will load once or twice then error message -address list does not exist- is displayed.

This address book cannot be opened. This either means that an incorrect URI was entered, or the server is unreachable.

Detailed error message: Address Book does not exist

Try doing the mentioned steps-to-follow below:

- Close Evolution
- Delete /home/username/.gconf/apps/evolution/addressbook
- Delete /home/username/.evolution/addressbook
- REBOOT your computer (DO NOT FORGET THIS STEP)
- Open Evolution mail

Why not use Thunderbird? It's much better to use, IMO.

If Ian Ace's answer doesn't work, try:
chown -R yourusername /home/yourusername/.evolution/; chmod -R 770 /home/yourusername/.evolution/;
