Deleted eMails are still in my Google mail "All Mail" folder

Asked by Jonners59

I have 4 accounts set up, all hosted by Google

I have noticed that my allowance is fast being used up and the reason seams to be that messages I have deleted still appear in my "All Mail" folder and so have not been deleted.

How do I prevent this? I want deleted eMails deleted completely
How do I remove, en mass, all those that I no longer do not want?
If I delete all the contents of "All Mail" does that delete all the "Labelled" items too - these are in folders in Evolution

I am using IMAP. I have been using Evolution with Google for 18 months. This only started when I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 and is on both machines I use Evolution on.

Unless there is some remote setting that needs activation, IMAP is what I am already using.

If you go to the account settings, there should be an option to 'remove emails from server' or 'leave emails on server'. If you check/uncheck that the emails will come down to your mail client when you download them and be removed from the server.

Thank for this, but wouldn't that then remove ALL my emails from the server so then if I were on another machine I would not have viability of them??????? I only need to delete/remove the eMails I have deleted.

Can you help with this problem?
