HTML not loading External resources

Asked by Mark Nezar

I have enabled all html settings under mail preferences but the external resources are not displaying correctly.

More specifically, the css file in the html is not being downloaded and thus the styling for the html formatted email is not being displayed. Please help.

Thank you

This is a security function of Evolution. External resources will not be loaded until the sender is in your address book or you manually request to load them.
To explain the problem: If you open an email with a reference to a specially crafted external resource the sender can track when and how often you are opening the email. Also he will get a lot of information about your system, like it's current IP address.

You can manually request to load external resource by pressing Ctrl + i.

Hi Thomas,

I understand the issue quite well.

My problem is that I am developing websites and I need to be able to test the email capability. External css files are not recognised in evolution. Pressing Ctrl + i only loads the images. Adding the contact to my address also does not solve this issue. The images are being display, but i need to css to be recognised as well.

I understand the blocking of certain javascripts, but surely css files should be allowed. Even so, the javascript should be optional. This is making it very difficult for me to do development as evolution is my main email client and it doesn't support the functionality that I need to do my job.

Are you looking at adding this functionality in in the future or would you suggest I find a different email client alltogether?

Thank you

If you want images to be shown withour Ctrl + i you will have to enclose them in the email as MIME parts.
CSS is far more easy since you can just put it in a style section of the head section.

Can you help with this problem?
