Trouble deleting messages in Trash folder in Evolution

Asked by articdisappearing

I use ubuntu 10.04 LTS , and I use Evolution mail as my mail handler. For some time now I am unable to have the Trash folder messages cleared from the Folder. Tried going into the settings to have Evolution delete the trash on exit each time. This also does not work. Logged out logged in after that, it did not work.

Tried Bleach Bit. This also did not work.

Can you help with having the messages in the Trash folder deleted?

Thanks

I've tried unchecking the empty the trash on exit ; restart and reapply that option and restart then try File > empty trash and even close and restart but the messages are hung up in my trash folder. They originally bounced back because I did not know the trash and other folders were too full.

In Evolution if I go to Edit > select all in my trash; followed by File > Empty Trash I get the following error message:

Error storing '~/.evolution/mail/local/Sent (mbox)': Error storing '~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox (mbox)': Error storing '~/.evolution/mail/local/Outbox (mbox)': Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

The messages were bounced back because I had not noticed my trash not auto deleting on exit even though that selection was checked; in the terminal I tried running sudo ~/.evolution/mail/local/delete folders.db and I received command not found. I got that off an older listing that referenced the same issue but it was in 9.04 and I am using 10.10

Please help

I ran apt-get udate and dist-upgrade and the trash folder is now working again.
