"trash folder in evolution"

Hi everybody,
I am working with UBUNTU 9.10 and Evolution (for mails). For deleting old mails I am using "Delete Folder", but I can't permanently delete unwonted items from this folder. I have read that there is "trash folder", but I can't find it in my installation!? I tried to install it acc. to Q.42184 (Add to panel) but it is not available on the list. Can anyone help me?

To delete items, you simply need to select them and press the delete key. If you want to recompact your mailbox, then use
File->Empty Trash

Thank you for your proposal, but I want to delete permanent, already deleted messages, from "Deleted items" folder.
Word "recompact" is unknown to me.
In my version under "File" there is no "Empty trash" item.
There is "Empty Wastebasket" but it doesn't work.
I don't know were is "Trash folder"

 Empty wastebasket I think is a translation for "Trash" (UK english, rather than US English), so it is correct.

There is no trash/Wastebasket folder per se. All this action does is asks the program to do a cleanup on messages marked to delete. To delete an old message, select the message you want to delete, then press the delete key. Once done, the message should dissappear.

But it is not *gone*. If you enable "show deleted items" (I think this is in the view menu), then you will see the old message, but with a line through it. Once you go File->Empty Wastebasket , then this will cause that message to disappear

So far from your description, it appears to be working, maybe just not doing what you want or expect it to do.
