Hello,

Unless you have the Plus version of Yahoo there is no POP or SMTP. You should change your email service.

This is not an Ubuntu problem.

Allan :)

@ Allan :
Oh yes, it *is* an Ubuntu issue, or at least an Evolution one!

Sorry to say, but until a few days ago, I could synchronyze in/out mails with Yahoo mailbox. Since then, it became impossible.
Originally, it was with SMTP transactions, now it is with both SMTP AND POP!
Error messages (in a French environment):
"impossible de se connecter au serveur POP pop.mail.yahoo.fr. Erreur lors de l'envoi du mot de passe. Saissez le mot de passe POP pour..." (that is: "Impossible connection to POP server pop.mail.yahoo.fr. Encountered issue while sending pass word. Key in POP password for...").
Keying in again the current password did not change any thing (while I may access the mail box on line of course).
And the same with SMTP.
Then "Authentification impossible sur le serveur SMTP. La commande AUTH a échoué. relai brisé (pipe)" (tentative translation: "Impossible authentification to SMTP server. AUTH instruction failed. Brocken "relay" (?) (pipe)"
As a result, Evolution is just unusable for me at the moment.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Set up : Ubuntu 10.10 (with latest updates)

I also am having trouble getting my SMTP to work on evolution. I have a Yahoo small business account which uses the server smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com and pop.bizmail.yahoo.com. I have set up evolution just like thunderbird which I use in Window7. This setup is as follows: server is pop.bizmail.yahoo.com:995, authentication is normal password, connection security is ssl/tsl, user name is <email address hidden>. For the SMTP connection it is smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com:465, connection security ssl/tsl, authenication method - normal password, user name <email address hidden>. This setup works on thunderbird in Windows7 but does not seem to work with Evolution on Ubuntu, Natty Narwhal 11.4. as far as the smtp is concerned the pop does work.

I have been having a problem toooo, but I sorted it out!!! woohoooo!! After upgrading to Natty Narwhal, I couldn't log into my yahoo with evolution. But finally I have done it. here is how:

Incoming mail server settings

    POP server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
    Use SSL
    Port: 995

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings

    SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
    Use SSL
    Port: 465
    Use authentication
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@domain.co.uk", for example, “jo.bloggs”)
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (for example, <email address hidden>)
    Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

In the evolution settings it is put as: pop3.yahoo.blahblah
but you have to change it to the above!! and walllaaaah!! It's done! Make a few minor changes to evolution's settings and you have got connection. My email is @yahoo.com : so I put pop.mail.yahoo.com not yahoo.co.uk. but you do as your email is.
Never mind them port thingies. I found no where to change or put those. Just change the pop line thingy and you're all set. Check on both the pop incoming and the stmp outgoing.

Can you help with this problem?
