Evolution can't connect to news server: bad command

The cox.net news server doesn't require authentication. However, when Evolution tries to connect it demands a password. Nothing (including "nothing" or my email password) seems to get past that. Is there a way to tell Evolution to not demand a password to a news server?

I should have added that I was able to connect successfully using Thunderbird.

Is it Usenet news? Where can you find the settings on cox.net website? I can have a look, but I don't know where to look at.

It is USENET I'm trying to access. My server for Cox is: news.west.cox.net

The default version that comes with Ubuntu 7.04: Evolution 2.10.1

Ok, I tried also, and it's not working. Seems that you can set an anonymous account with Evolution. I don't think this can be considered as a bug, but more as an enhancement proposition maybe? So I guess you don't have a solution to your problem now. You can just try to submit this problem to the bug tracker of Evolution, maybe they will fix it in a coming release.

I know this is stale, but in Ubuntu 7.10 Evolution 2.12.1 this problem does not exist... unless you put in a user name. If you want anonymous access to Cox news servers, just leave the user name blank.
