Can recieve but not send emails

Asked by Steve

Strange, I've set up Evolution for email, but run into authentication errors on sending. It recieves fine but won't send. I've tried all avail authentication choices and server doesn't accept. The same set up works on Thunderbird.. Thoughts...

I can only think that there was a typo in the server name, user name or password? I know it's rude to suggest that, but I don't see what else it could be if Thunderbird works on the same machine.

Hello Steve,

What server type for sending email did you select, SMTP or Sendmail?

Did you enable "Server requires authentication" option?

What authentication error do you get on sending email?

Hello again,

What username did you specify? Is it a full email address, like <email address hidden>, or just myname?
