Change the list of categories?

Asked by SteveH

Are the categories in Evolution fixed? There are some nice ones, but I use some to separate the classes of my customers, etc.

How does one change the categories?

TIA,

  Steve

When you edit your contact, click the button that says 'Categories'. The new window that opens will give you the option to add a new category.

It does allow you to add a category to a contact, but it doesn't show up in the drop-down list of categories. Also, there are a lot of "odd" (to me, at least) categories, having to do with weather, that I would rather replace with useful categories.

To customize the calender category list would be extremely useful to organize my calender of schedules.

Is this really solved? I have added additional categories for my contacts but if I try and do a search onone of these categories it's not in the drop down list and can't be used in the search.

I have found the following with add/chage/delete the categies in both the calender drop down list and in the contact list:
* Open an existing or new contact,
     - while on the "Contact" tab, click on the "Category" button
     - click the "New" button at the bottom of the newly opened window (type a new name, choose a color and icon),
     - click the "OK" button on the Categories window
     - click the "OK" button the Contact window
     - close and reopen Evolution
     - the new category is in the calender Category list
...and the same applies for editing existing categories or deleting unwanted ones. Hope this helps

It's not the main list where my newly created categories are missing
from. It's in the search tool. If you try and use the advanced search
facility and include a category in the search parameter, the user
created categories are not in the drop down list.

Paul, I have created a new bug report for categories not showing in drop down list.
