Ubuntu - Windows 7 Setup

Asked by Tony Brown

Hello - I am still trying to get my head round my new ubuntu 12.04 installation, but I have an urgent problem which I can't seem to find an answer for.

I have ubuntu 12.04 installed on my main pc, and the printer installed is a Canon i560.

This is working fine on my ubuntu pc - prints everything ok.

However, I have a second pc running on Windows 7.

I have installed the Canon i560 printer as a wireless printer, (ie default printer), on the Windows 7 pc, and it does print out a Windows test prints and ordinary documents ok, but it won't print out PDF's.

Has anyone an answer why ordinary documents, ie Windows test print, emails, libreoffice documents, (installed on my Windows 7 pc), print out ok, but PDF's won't?

Thanks in advance.

Regards Tony Brown.

Have you tried a different PDF application?

Hello Andrew - thanks for taking the time to respond. I am a newbie to ubuntu and have only used Windows in the past. Not sure I fully understand what you mean. I know the PDF's in Windows 7 that won't print, are definately Adobe PDF's. Is it possible the PDF's in ubuntu are NOT Adobe PDF's, and that my printer set-up in my ubuntu system, is set to print the PDF's as per the PDF application in ubuntu? Sorry about my lack of technical knowledge! Appreciate any comments. Regards, Tony Brown.

The file doesn't change because its on a differnet OS. Have you tried a different PDF viewer and print to the shared printer that way?

I will try that - I'm sure it's going to be something really simple. Thanks very much for your advice. Appreciate it.
