evince failure with 'hamexam' script

Asked by Laird Kelly

Attempting to use 'hamexam' results in a "filetype PNG image not supported" error from evince (eog is installed so all dependancies are met for hamexam)

Excuse me? What does a Portable Document Format viewer have to do with running shell scripts? OK very simple terms to avoid any further confusion... 'hamexam' is a perl script to run in a bash terminal (konsole or x-term for example) to practice for Amateur Radio licensing tests, said script displays (and accepts answers to) questions from the standard FCC question pool INCLUDING some associated diagrams in PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format that are suppose to be displayed in evince windows (which doesn't work in Kubuntu oneiric as PNG support evidently has been removed)
