i uploaded a picture but when i upload it, it says file to large

Hi Crystal

Need a bit more information. When you say uploaded a picture, are you referring to Ubuntu site or another website, or to your desktop / laptop etc?

In general, for websites, allot of them will limit the file size of the image being uploaded to save disk space usage. For example, my digital camera, when set to it's highest resolution, creates images that are many megabytes in size and some Web-Forums / Sites limit the file size to size 1.0MB or less, thus when I try to upload it, I would get an error stating the file size is to large.

There are many ways to do this, the above is just one short example.
