Command usage query: ethtool -s eth0 wol d

Asked by Dave H

Hi,
Could someone please explain what the subject command actually does and where does it sets (in what config file) 'd' to turn 'Wake on Lan' off. I logged this possible kernel bug in connection with laptop battery depletion when my laptop is off:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1098697

its proven that its due to Ubuntu default WOL being set to 'g' on my install. A work around seems to be installing ethtool and running the subject command.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Initially selected the wrong application, changed Python-ethtool to ethtool. This question supports the related bug above.
