Cannot Import Firefox Bookmarks

Asked by DukeofWagner

I've tried importing Firefox bookmarks directly from Firefox and from a .html file into Epiphany. Direct from Firefox brings in almost none of them and importing from a file brings them all in, but with extra characters in the URL such as "add date" which create 404 errors when executed. Help. Thanks.

Replace the bookmarks.html in your~/.gnome2/epiphany/mozilla/epiphany/ with the bookmarks.html from your firefox profile.

or

install konqueror, import firefox bookmarks from konqueror, then import them from epiphany.
It works!

or

use google bookmarks

or

In epiphany, go to "Bookmarks -> Edit Bookmarks" then
"File -> Import Bookmarks...." And choose Firefox

I tried the above suggestions without a lot of luck. (Ubuntu 8.04, Firefox 3.0.8, Epiphany 2.22.2) It got me thinking enough to discover that the following solved my problem, though:

In Firefox, go to "Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks"
Then, in the Library window, go to "Import and Backup -> Export HTML"
Save the file where you can easily find it again.
In Epiphany, go to "Bookmarks -> Edit Bookmarks"
Then, in Bookmarks window, go to "File -> Import Bookmarks..."
Select "From File" Click "Import" Choose the html file exported from FF.

Can you help with this problem?
