eog package

display sun raster with eog ubuntu 16.04

With former ubuntu distributions the image viewer eog could be used for opening sun raster files with file ending .ras. With the latest ubuntu release eog doesn't recognize the file format any more. I reinstalled eog, but it still hasn't worked out.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I suggest you report a bug.

DO other viewers work OK (imagemagick etc).
