i have no dash 12.10

i have no dash 12.10. how do i fix this and the font are appearing with a strike of no clour i tried the solutin of writing gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz-1;gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compizconfig-1;unity --reset in terminal but i got a result like ERROR: the reset option is now deprecated how can i solve this the total look of desktop is bad so plz give a update that can be down loaded and installed help me plz i have seen some guys made their ubuntu desktop so beautyfull in full circle magazine wish u cud help me how i can make that possible . i have downloaded this ubuntu version from ur torrent image link check it out and see if that is the reason behind this error . while am writing this message i cant see the characters in full if i type a there is a whit space seperating the top part and bottom part of a . plz help me soon guys

Press ctrl+alt+t to open a terminal and type:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz-1;gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compizconfig-1;unity --reset
(all on one line), also make sure the dash is not autohiding by moving your mouse to the left of the screen and seeing if it appears.
