iTunes doesn't work because Apple are short-sighted and have no interest in supporting Linux. The only true way to get iTunes working is to install a full Windows install in the proprietary virtualbox (or vmare) and you can install iTunes there. This is a huge bloat as you will be running both OSes at the SAME time. If you had a device which was more open, you would not need iTunes at all and be free. If you dual boot I suggest you manage your iRubbish from Windows.

You can access your images from the CD easily. If you insert the CD you should be able to automatically access the images unless you used some weird image CD software rather than just burning them as data.

Hi Vall,

Regarding problem 1:
---
You should simply be able to place the CD in the drive, open "nautilus" the system file browser, navigate to the CD on the left hand side, then drag them into your pictures folder.

You can do the same thing for an external drive, after you plug the drive in.

Have you tried either of these and experienced any problems?

As for problem 2,
---
You can read a little more about it here :
http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/itunes

Unfortunately itunes support is spotty at best, as apple do not release a linux version, and apple do not provide technical documentation on their program, so that others cannot support it easily.

Currently version 7,8,8.2, and 10 should work OK, but other versions may not function.

---

I've marked this response as an information request, as I am not clear if you have already experienced problems when trying to copy your files from CD

When you open your home folder, the app that shows the files is called nautilus. In windows it is called explorer. You can access all manner of storage from nautilus.
