Has anyone gotten the included plugins to work for Ubuntu entangle?

There are three python based plugins included in the entangle source repository. Has anyone been able to get them to work from this package?

According to the screenshots on the entangle project page the 3 plugins should appear in the plug-in panel but I do not see any in the package I installed.

The plug-in panel for me shows an empty list. I think it should show the three included plugins: eclipse, photobox,shooter.
I'm running on Ubuntu 18.04.
I did also try to set the GI_TYPELIB_PATH variable as suggested by the FAQ on entangle-photo.org but that didn't seem to help.
I did not try building from source.
