How to uninstall enfcs

Asked by Ángel

In order to backup my documents on the cloud, I installed Encfs.
I used the command: enfcs ~/Cloud/Encrypted ~/Documents

But I discovered that the best solution for me was Déjà Dup that can encrypt too the data and doesn't need an encrypted folder.
So, I want to remove enfcs. The problem is that if I do it, I can't access my "Documents" folder and I have to reinstall the program to access the data.
I haven't read anything about how to do it in the man page neither in google.

I would like to undo/unlink/unsynchronize the encrypted-folder and the documents before uninstalling.

Can anybody help me?

Xubuntu 12.10
enfcs 1.7.4
cryptkeeper

Thanks.

Hi Ángel,

I think you should first DEcrypt your folder (Documents) and then you can uninstall the program as you did.

Hi NikTh thanks for your answer.

Your solution doesn't work. The problem is that my data are always decrypted in my harddisk ("documents") but without enfcs the folder can't be mounted.

When I turn on my computer the situation is:
- Encrypted folder :present
- Documents folder: "missing"

I give Cryptkeeper the password
-Encrypted folder: present
-Documents folder: mounted (now I can access using the file browser)

If a remove encfs in this moment, next time Documents will be "unmount" again. The only way I know to access is to reinstall encfs and write the password.
My data are there, but I can't access them without encfs.

Well , one of my thoughts is to decrypt the folder , and copy all of your contents to another folder named , eg: Documents2

Then remove the folder Documents (delete it) and also delete the enfcs. After that I assume you can just rename the Documents2 to Documents and you will be Ok.
