Just showing contacts - no groups

Asked by Philipp Bielefeldt

I am using Empathy amongst others as a client for GTalk. GTalk contacts are organised in groups according to the google address book. There, a lot of people are put in multiple groups each (such as "family", "people from my home town").
This causes Emapthy to show a lot of groups - with more or less the same people in it (by now, my father's GTalk account appears six times in my contact list).

Is there any option to show the contacs UNGROUPED? Just as an alphabethical list (somehow arranged by status), without respect to the groups they are in?
In fact, this is the simplest way to display people - if there isn't an option, I would really call for one! (But I couldn't find one so far...)

Are there any bugs reported?

How do you mean? It's not a missbehaviour of the program in a sense that it does not work; It's just working in a way that I do not like...

To clarify my problem: I uploaded a picture of my contact list here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10924771/Kontaktliste-Empathy%20unpers%C3%B6nlich.png
Just look at it and see how often the same users appear and you might guess why I'm unsatisfied with the situation...

Can you help with this problem?
