No me inicia sesion Empathy

Quisiera saber por qué no me inicia sesión empathy si tengo mi cuenta( <email address hidden>) correctamente agregada. Tengo instalada la version de Ubuntu 10.04 LTS y me gustaría saber si hay algún problema con esta versión de ubuntu y como solucionarlo

Elimina la/las cuentas de msn configuradas en empathy
Cierra completamente empathy
Desinstala telepathy-haze: sudo apt-get remove telepathy-butterfly
Inicia empathy y configurar nuevamente la cuenta de msn

Probaste reinstlandolo?

sudo apt-get purge empathy
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:telepathy/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
