Should not be needed.

Anyway enable in the software-sources: multivers; and install what you need with software center or synaptic.

Internet search for how exactly to do is recommend.

Yahoo is properly based on flash, so install this and make the latest updates, also for your browser( with update-manager).

May be you wnat to enable in software sources under actualisation the point ("ubuntu_versions" - proposed) which brings on the latest software versions available.

Remember that silverlight support on linux is very low and could only be done by moonlight -> May be there are commercial packages from Xamarin.
