Empathy chat cannot log into windows live any more at messenger.hotmail.com port # 1863

Asked by Thomas Gerald Moog

I use to be able to video chat complete with voice using Empathy Chat with Windows Live at "messenger.hotmail.com" through port # 1863 but as of 5 days ago Empathy tries to connect but is always unsuccessful. I really do not know why I cannot connect any more. I hope there is a fix as I really have gotten use to this ability in the past.

I just wanted to let those know that the Empathy Chat does really work quite nice especially with Video and voice and most likely it was the INTERNET provider, Bell Canada, that was adjusting something that caused Empathy to not be able to connect. I am actually quite happy with Empathy and have come quite used to its easy voice and video quality.
I do recommend Empathy over pidgin and amsn as I could not get the former to recognise my camera and the latter consistently says that I am fire-walled or behind a router whereas the Ubuntu firewall is at its default of being disabled since I agree that it does not need a firewall and I am not using a router.

Anyway, there is not anything wrong with Empathy and I am quite happy with it and hope nobody makes any changes to it.

Thank you for your time
