wifi observation, it works with less signal than windows in my computer

I have ubuntu and windows in the same computer because I haven't learned yet using ubuntu at 100% for say something. the problem is that when I connect to the modem with wifi in ubuntu, the signal, at considerable distance is a little more poor than windows when I use it(windows), maybe is the laptop model or if there anything I can do to improve that make me notice please.
