Empathy doesn't currently support voice/video for the Yahoo network.

You may be interested in the forum post at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=967248 where they recommend using Gyche for Yahoo.

Best of luck,

I used Pidgen to chat with my Yahoo, MSN, Gmail friends but you can't access video/voice capability too.

The best thing you can do here is install Skype for Linux. You can chat and do video/voice. Just tell your friends to register and create account in skype. It's beginning to be more popular than YM...

I also noticed that the voice and video are disabled for yahoo messenger in empathy, i saw in the empathy "help" option it shows what is supported. I got skype to work for a little while but it was very choppy, and would disconnect frequently. I'm currently in Iraq right now and the network has very little bandwidth also I noticed that the skype is version 2.1 Beta. Beta versions might still have some bugs in their compression algorithms. But it did connect ( Bottom Line).

I am using the Linux operating system almost a year ago, and used many distributions of Linux distributions and the fundamental problem for which they moved between different distributions is a problem that the sound and the camera is not working in the program source or program pidgen I do not know what the reason,

I now use the distro version is the last two buttons,, 32 bit
Was tired of the large number of complaint, I did not help me, even though the sound and camera work with the skype - but I ask is I want to run the mic and the camera so that I can make voice chat and video and audio, I think that this is not impossible,

What is the solution ..

I am a man of Egypt, and Egyptian community here in Kuwait with a population of 400,000 people, has tried with many of them to convince them to shift to the use of the operating system (Linux), but what stands between us and the Linux operating system is the subject of (Conversation with sound and image) - If the solution This problem should note that the number of users operating system (Linux) will increase about 200 000 at least this year,

What is the solution,,,, thank you,,,
