How to dial a phone number

Asked by Avery

I have a Nomado SIP account which allows me to dial any phone number, including switched telephone network numbers. I have successfully added the account to Empathy, which reports that it has successfully registered with the Nomado server.

However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to input the phone number. Is there a phone number? Text box? It appears that I cannot add a contact linked to a SIP account, so I can't do it that way.

How do I dial a phone number in Empathy?

The SIP support in empathy is a bit lacking here.

You can try alternate SIP softphones, such as ekiga.

http://ekiga.org/

it is also in the software repositories,so you can just install it from there

apt://ekiga
