empathy package

i cannot online my Yahoo messanger via empathy im client, need help

Dear All,

hi, im new user of ubuntu, now im trying to get online via yahoo messenger, but in ubuntu, now i have empathy im client, which i've use to get online. but cannot connect. the circle is just looping around and i still cannot online. anybody can help with this?

open Ubuntu Software Center, there search 'pidgin' and install it. the in the internet category select pidgin instead of empathy and enjoy :)

hmm.. is that Mr. Omer Akram feel that pidgin messenger better than empathy? but my friend use empathy, he can get online. i wonder why, instead i didnt change any settings of it.

susanti, is you internet using any firewalls? if not delete your yahoo account in empathy and reboot your system then start empathy again and add the account. which version of ubuntu are you using?

and also I did not say pidgin is better than empathy. if one does not work we can also try the other ;)

Dear Mr. Omer Akram, i'm using ubuntu 10.04,

about my internet using firewalls, i am not really know about that. i've tried pidgin just now, at 1st , also cannot online, but just a moment when i type this message it can go online.
