how do i get my offline contacts displayed?

my contacts list is not displayed in chat window. how do i get them back in my chat window?

Open the Contact List window (right-click on the notification icon, select the "Show Contact List" option, so that a checkbox is next to it) then, in the Contact List window, click the "View" menu, then select "Offline Contacts".

Default keyboard shortcut for this is CTRL-H (which seems like a rather odd choice, really). Then again, I might have inadvertently reconfigured it at some point.

Of course, this is all assuming Empathy is working properly.
