Blinked chat messages in Empathy

I want to notice new messages faster. Now the gray envelope into the panel becomes green when message has arrived.
But it would be much better if this envelope would be blinking (or different animation).
Sounds are cool but I have no any devices to reproduce sounds on my PC.

When you type this in a terminal, do you hear anything?
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

Actually NotifyOSD informs about new messages, which of course need to be enabled in preferences of Empathy.
