Set Empathy status as the currently playing track.

I want to set my Empathy status as the currently playing track in VLC or Rythmbox music players. what are the required plugins or packages to be installed? Please help. I've heard it is available for pidgin. But I don't use it. Please suggest a workaround for Empathy.

In rhythmbox click on plugins and enable 'IM status' plugin then whatever you play in rhythmbox will be your status.
