The steps :

irst, clean the configuration:
Code:ekiga-config-tool --clean
Second:Code:killall gconfd-2
Third:turn the echo cancellation off in prefs->Audio->codecs

Now do not run with ubuntu 9.10
I have a Compaq portatil

Try in the command line:
sudo ekiga-config-tool --clean && sudo dpkg --configure -a && sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude full-upgrade

Monkey, ejecutar ekiga-config-tool como root no va a arreglar nada.
