Using Ekiga with a SIPphone account

Asked by Kenyon Karl

The Audio software in my Gizmo Project (2007 Nov 29 Linux Version 3.1.0.79 - www.gizmo5.com) has stopped working on my Ubuntu 9.04 system, possibly due to the sheer age of the Linux version of that software. Since i have been assigned a phone number by SIPphone (www.sipphone.com) and have a $10 credit, I am thus trying to shift my usage of that account to my Ekiga software. However the details of that precise setup escapes me.

I'm still experimenting, but so far so good.

Note that Google Voice (http://www.google.com/googlevoice/about.html#) can use Gizmo5/SIPphone numbers to either originate or receive calls. The website (http://www.gizmovoice.com/) provides extra clues as to how this might work!
