Fire up Ekiga. If you haven't already installed it then:

sudo apt-get install ekiga

Open Ekiga (Applications > Internet > Ekiga Software)

This will start Ekiga's Configuration assistant (basically to help you get the most out of Ekiga and tell it not to use Ekiga's services):
Now, once in Ekiga go to:
Edit > Configuration Assistant

Follow the instructions.
- First & Last Name.
> On this second page check the box "I do not want to sign up for the ekiga.net free service" because you already have Free Call. Click forward.
> Click "I do not want to sign up for the Ekiga Call Out Service" if you also plan on using Free Call for your other calling needs. Click Forward.
> Select connection type. Forward.
> Select the usual sound devices you will use.
> Select your video device.
Click apply. You are done setting up the first part of Ekiga not to use the Ekiga services.
Let's name it "Freecall" (or you can rename it to whatever you'd like).

Here's the part concerning using your Free Call's service provider as your primary provider.

Disclaimer: I can not ensure this information is accurate of today, however it was accurate as of 02/01/2009. The best person to provide this information would be Free Call themselves. Please contact them if you have any problems by e-mail, phone or their web site. Ask them for their proper "SIP" protocol address. They are your provider.

Here we go:

Go to Edit > Accounts
Now:
Accounts > Add a SIP Account
Enter your account details --
Name: Your Name
Registrar: Free Call
Account name : your FreeCall username
Password : your FreeCall password
Display name/number : your FreeCall username or voipnumber

Now on th emain screen go to Edit > Preferences and enter this information in the appropriate places/tabs (mainly under protocols):

SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.voiparound.com
Proxy server : sip.voiparound.com
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Stunserver (option) : stun.voiparound.com

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

I'm having a terrible time setting up Ekiga 3.2.0 with FreeCall.com account. I created a new SIP account called "FreeCall" and inserted the registrar domain (sip.voiparound.com), User and Authentication User (they are the same), Password (my FreeCall.com account password). What else? 3600 as timeout value.

Where do I have to insert the port number 5060? And what about the stunserver?
Please help! I'm getting mad! I already asked for help in the Ubuntu forums, but nobody has replied yet.

Thank you.

Suppose I want to call my landline phone number, how do I dial the number?
sip:+<email address hidden>:5060

Is that right?

Can you help with this problem?
