Setting up advanced settings in Ekiga

Asked by ThomasWG

Does Ekiga have an area for advanced settings? Where is ekiga's configuration file? Where can I insert or alter the jitter buffer settings, registration time out, advanced audio settings, refresh interval settings, the poll time settings, where is the "send SIP keep-alives" and is there an active "use rport" ?
I have searched for a configuration file under my profile but can not find one. I have looked in the Ekiga directories and there too I can not find any configuration file, so where do you put it? Is there a tool to alter the settings?

The main problem I have is after a little while the I receive a registration failure notice, and I can not figure out why it keeps crashing, I have asked this on launchpad and never get any answers. This problem continues to occur.

Hello linux-junkie,

Ekiga, like other gnome component, use "gconf" to store its configuration. Unfortunately, most of the configuration keys are not well documented (even if they have their own description), still here are some basic documentation about how to configure Ekiga ports:
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Internet_ports_used_by_Ekiga

You will need to use the tool "gconf-editor" to alter the Ekiga configuration.

You may need to clean up your whole configuration if for some reason some key are misconfigured, in this case you can use this tool:
$ ekiga-config-tool --clean
Then restart the gconf deamon to take this clean up in account:
$ killall gconfd-2

Best regards,
Yannick
