Do I have to run Evolution in order to use the addressbook in Ekiga ?

I keep my address book on Google's servers, and Evolution lets me synchronize my contacts on Google's servers. I like being able to place calls to my Evolution contacts ( which (again) are my Google contacts ) using Ekiga. An issue that I have run into ( which I do not know if it is a bug ): I seem to have to start Evolution before starting Ekiga in order for my contacts to get loaded into Ekiga.
