Can I have only a video connection?

Asked by wbigger

Sometimes I need audio and video connection, sometimes only audio (and turn off video is easy), sometimes only video. I'm wondering if it's possible turn off (easily!) only the audio connection.
Simply unplugging the microphone, or mute it in alsa mixer, will do the job? I mean, what happen to CPU load and network use?
Thanks

Hi,

If you use silence detection in preferences, then it will do the job. Just mute the microphone, it will use no bandwidth for audio. But what you receive depends on the other side.
