Ekiga does not detect Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

Asked by rikmik

Ekiga does not detect my webcam - can't get a picture on my Feisty 64AMD setup.
Looking at previous posts, thought I would send the outputs below for a start. Can anyone help?

hummm, "BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!" that doesn't look right... or this "hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }" I'm surprised you get to the desktop.

Um, that does not help me. I am not encountering any other problems with Ubuntu or the Desktop at present.
.Please note I am a Ubuntu newbie trying to leave Windoze so would appreciate it if this could be borne in mind - I am only just beginning to get to grips with GPL/Linux.

What I would like to know is what do the uvc errors mean and what can I do about them?

Thanks.

Welcome to the world of computers! regardless of what OS you use, when asking online for support it is always important to read. the uvc errors mean there is a problem communicating with your camera. the link i provided to you is the latest software support for your camera, sadly made in germany i think, so not very user friendly... but be happy you don't have my camera, logitech quickcam messenger. Follow their install steps carefully and then post again :)

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask rikmik for more information if necessary.
