Sharing folders between users

Asked by Lars J.

Two users, which are using encrypted home directories, want to share some music-files. The folder containing the music-files have to be decrypted each time one (or both) of the users logged in. How can I do it?

Is this between a Windows user and a Linux user (over a network or file system) or just two users on the same machine?

Between two users on the same Ubuntu instance. Both users use the feature "Encrypted Home Directory".

Is it possible for you to have an unencrypted directory to share between the two users outside of your home directory or possibly inside of your home directory?

The encrypted directory feature is working against you in what you are trying to accomplish. If you unencrypt a directory, and share only it, you will achieve what you are looking for.

Can you help with this problem?
