Hi Neil,

I suggest you, that you use program called "Deja-Dup". You can configure what and in what way do you want to backup your system. If you don't have installed this program you can install it simple by running this command in terminal: sudo apt-get install deja-dup.

Hope this helps you on some way,
Regards,
Miha

Hi again
almost got it.
the above help was a little hard but there was a link there that sent me here
http://blog.dustinkirkland.com/2011/04/introducing-ecryptfs-recover-private.html
great help.
Problem now is I can't save the files that I can see. ie Documents, pictures.
I get the following message
Error opening file: Permission denied

I have tried with using sudo nautilus that s were I can see all folders.
but can't copy them over to another HDD.
Please any idea would be great.
Thanks
Neil

Neil try copying with the terminal via a dd command, dd will copy bit by bit, you will end with an identical drive, just be carefull as to have the disc or partition where you are copying it to, to have the exact same size read the man pages of dd

humberto.
