eclipse installation

I have downloaded eclipse for Linux but I cant install it on my PC .I am using Ubuntu 32 bit (version 10). Is it mandatory to install eclipse using Ubuntu software center ? I have separately downloaded the eclipse package but nowhere near to install it.Please mention anything which will help me in this case

Hi

Personally I can only help you with the eclipse in Ubuntu's Software center. If you want the one from eclipse.org, I cannot do anything for you.

eclipse.org should have guides for how to install/use eclipse you download from there. As I recall it is basically "unpack and run the eclipse executable" (but I could be wrong).
  Be advised that the binaries from eclipse.org may be compiled against different versions of your system libraries; generally this causes crashes and I cannot help you fix those.
